To go beyond what is known by human experience, physical or spiritual, and to emerge from that journey as a more enlightened, compassionate being: this is the foundation of my artistic practice.
Throughout my decades-long career, I have explored a range of media from acrylic and watercolor to oil on surfaces both intimate and monumental. Yet, oil painting remains my primary medium. Its rich, lush consistency allows me to engage with the canvas in a visceral, intuitive way, building texture, layering movement, and unleashing color in bold, emotional gestures.
I believe that being an artist goes far beyond the act of creation. It is an active way of seeing, feeling, and doing that is guided by empathy, curiosity, and ethical intention. My work is a response to the deeper truths I observe in nature, truths that are unwavering and honest. Nature never lies, and in its rawness, I find both inspiration and clarity.
The idea of creating wearable art allows me to blur the boundaries between fine art and fashion, infusing everyday life with a sense of play, curiosity, and storytelling. These paintings often begin with intuitive sketches or spontaneous brushstrokes, lighthearted yet intentional, meant to evoke wonder, joy, or a sense of childlike imagination.
Translating these paintings into a useful tote bag invites the viewer to become a moving part of the artwork itself. Color, pattern, and texture are all thoughtfully considered not only for visual impact but for how they interact with the body in motion. Wearable art is a way to extend the life of a painting beyond the wall, allowing it to live dynamically in the world, on the street, in a room, in conversation with others.
